To Die For Dresses

Tips for selecting A Wedding Dress Fit For The Bride

With the market filled with gowns from top designers in a variety of colors, styles, and textures, choosing the perfect dress can be stressful.   From dress shop to dress shop, brides drag family and friends with them to experience the decision making horror.  Choosing a gown should not be this difficult.  Begin by visualizing yourself walking down the aisle.  Do you have a Cinderella or princess theme in mind?  Or are you looking for something more contemporary or flattering?  Those are just a few questions you need to ask yourself.
Here are a few tips to consider when searching for the perfect dress.

1.  The Perfect Fit.  Full figured women are more prone to princess style gowns.    Depending on shape, you may want a dress that is slimming with a straight bottom.  If full busted, opt for a halter instead of a strapless dress for added support.    Mermaid bottom dresses can add shape to a small figured- person, yet it may not be a good selection for a person with fuller hips.

 2.  Color.  Whether it’s white, ivory, champagne or even pink, bridal gowns are considered a highlight of the wedding.  Besides the wedding cake, emphasis is placed on the bride’s attire.  Traditionally, bridal gowns are white or ivory.  But in the world of fashion craze, they now come in several colors like pink, gold, or black and white.

 3.  Bridal Boutique or On line store.  The internet is very resourceful and can provide “Where to Buy” information for certain designers.  Most designers have authorized dealers that carry their line and do not allow their dresses to be sold on the internet.  It is recommended that you purchase a dress from a retail store verses on line.  Retail stores provide assistance with fitting and alterations that may be needed.   The condition of the dress is visible and customer assistance is available.  Most online stores have strict return policies.  Plus, you have to consider delivery time, especially if you have to return the dress for another size.  We recommend purchasing dresses from creditable retail locations that provide fitting assistance.  It is your big day.  You do not have to be Fit for the Dress.  The Dress has to Fit you!

 4.   Accessorize.  Why think about accessories when purchasing the dress?  Families have traditions and jewelry that Brides like to wear on their “Big Day”.  Think about the type of necklace and earrings you plan to wear when selecting a dress.  Dresses have many necklines to choose from.  Choose a dress that will allow you to play with a variety of accessories.

Bridal Gowns are beautiful, but not as beautiful as the excitement of the person wearing it.  Have fun with shopping for your wedding day!  Regardless of the dress you select, remember- YOU ARE A LOVELY BRIDE!
